Listen to Squarepusher composed start-up music for new Super Nintendo system

Squarepusher has composed original music for the new Super Nintendo system by Analogue called the Super Nt. Besides providing the soundtrack to a video game trailer released in October, he also wrote the start-up sequence. Listen to it below. The system will feature wireless controllers and is compatible with over 2,200 Super Nintendo games.

Black Thought from The Roots, today, appeared on Funkmaster Flex’s Hot 97 show and did a 10-minute freestyle over the beat from Mobb Deep’s “The Learning (Burn).” Watch it below. The rapper name-drops the Kardashian Wests (“pre-Kardashian Kanye, my rhyme play immaculate/same cadence as D.O.C pre-accident”), other legendary MCs (“I’m K. Dot Lamar meets Tupac Shakur/got profiled by a few cops, I’m too hot to charge”), and references Shakespeare (“I’ve been having visions of Nat Turner holding his master’s head/like Yorick and Horatio in Hamlet/Smacking it like a tennis racket underhanded/Send a message through the gram, the eagle has landed”) troughout the video. In response to the freestyle, Black Thought tweeted, “That verse was just what I had to say at the moment lol.”

David Byrne announces tour

David Byrne has announced new solo tour dates in 2018 that begins with a performance at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey, and will go through through the east coast, including shows in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, and more. Byrne will also perform European festival dates for the summer as well.

New Miles Davis & John Coltrane live box set announced

The sixth Miles Davis Bootleg Series from Columbia/Legacy has been announced. The Final Tour: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 6 is set to be out March 23rd. It will feature both Davis and John Coltrane and compiles five shows from the Spring 1960 Jazz At The Philharmonic European Tour in a 4xCD set. The tour was the last with Coltrane as Davis’ sideman. The concerts on the release were in Paris, Stockholm, and Copenhagen. Along with the CD set and complete digital release, vinyl of each of shows will be released as well. The Final Tour: Copenhagen, March 24, 1960 will be released through Columbia/Legacy while Vinyl Me, Please will put out The Final Tour: Paris, March 21, 1960.
