TV on the Radio announce Dear Science anniversary show

TV on the Radio have announced an upcoming performance of the band’s fourth studio album, Dear Science in celebration of it’s 10th anniversary. They will perform the entire album on September 20th at the Knockdown Center in New York City. “For various reasons this record means a LOT to us and we’re thrilled have a chance to play it in its entirety, in New York, nonetheless,” Tunde Adebimpe said in a press release. “I’d say it’s gonna be a special night.” Find tickets here.

Dear Science is the band’s fourth studio album, and the follow-up to their major label debut Return to Cookie Mountain.

The soundtrack for Sorry to Bother You, Boots Riley’s directorial debut, has been shared. The album is credited to his Oakland hip-hop group The Coup and has appearances from the film’s star Lakeith Stanfield, Tune-Yards,who scored the film, Janelle Monáe, Killer Mike, and more. Watch Blood Orange’s video for new song “Charcoal Baby”

Blood Orange has released a video for the first track from his upcoming album, Negro Swan, “Charcoal Baby.” Watch the Crack Stevens directed video below. The LP is set to be out on August 24th through Domino.

“My newest album is an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of color,” said Dev Hynes in a statement. “A reach back into childhood and modern traumas, and the things we do to get through it all.”

Flight of the Conchords’ HBO Special gets premiere date

HBO has announced the title and premiere date for Flight of the Conchords’ new live special. The special, Flight of the Conchords: Live at the London Apollo, will air on October 6th at 10 p.m. Eastern. The special was recorded during the duo’s “Flight of the Conchords Sing Flight of the Conchords Tour” at the Eventim Apollo. According to a press release, the special will include new material. Black Thought shares new song in memory of Trayvon Martin

Black Thought from the Roots has released a song for the JAY-Z-produced docuseries “Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story.” The song, which is titled “Rest in Power,” Black Thought raps about the killing of Trayvon Martin and the inequality in America, the music video also features images of Trayvon, Black Lives Matter activists, and more. The first episode of “Rest in Power” premieres on Monday, July 30th at 10 p.m. Eastern on the Paramount Network.

Diarrhea Planet announce final shows

Diarrhea Planet have announced their final two shows. The band wrote in a statement: “we’ve had an incredible run largely thanks to all of you incredible people, but we’ve decided to bring it to a close. It has truly been amazing to share our music with y’all onstage and off.” The two shows will be on September 7th and 8th, at Exit/In in Nashville. Whenever a band breaks up, it’s really annoying when there isn’t an explanation. So here it is: Nothing really happened. Devon Welsh announces solo album, shares new song

Former Majical Cloudz singer, Devon Welsh, has announced he is self-releasing his debut solo album called Dream Songsand it will come out August 24th. It was recorded and produced by Austin Tufts from Braids , the LP will have the previously shared songs, “I’ll Be Your Ladder” and “Vampires.” Welsh also has shared a new album cut, “By the Daylight.” Welsh said in a statement, “sometimes it feels like we’re just swept along in a tide we don’t really understand, and this song is about experiencing that feeling.” Watch the video for “By the Daylight” below.

Watch Fleet Foxes’ new “If You Need To, Keep Time on Me” short film

Ryan Heffington, the choreographer for the 2015 Grammy-nominated music videos, Sia’s “Chandelier” and Arcade Fire’s “We Exist,” has released a new short film that is set to Fleet Foxes’ song “If You Need To, Keep Time on Me” from Crack-Up. The film shows Heffington hosting a dinner party where it explores what seems to be a conflict with romance. Watch the Heffington directed and choreographed clip below.

In a statement, Heffington said “It was the pure honesty of the music and Robin Pecknold’s voice that originally drew me to direct/choreograph ‘If You Need To, Keep Time on Me.’” He continued, “Heartbreak being one of the most honest and visceral symptoms of love, I wanted to paint a realistic picture of humanity and share a story that so many of us have encountered. Using dance as an offering has defined my adult life and I believe in its healing power—for both the dancer and the witness. I wanted to capture this in the film, whether it is seen as surreal or organic.”

Hoops announce indefinite hiatus

Hoops have announced an indefinite hiatus. The band, started by frontman Drew Auscherman, released a statement on Facebook that said that “letting this project rest and taking some time to focus on life/work/school/other projects/etc” and thanking fans for their support. An earlier Facebook post in April announced that they canceled their upcoming tour dates.

Waxahatchee announces new EP, shares new song

Waxahatchee, aka Katie Crutchfield, has announced a new EP called Great Thunder which comes out out September 7th via Merge. Crutchfield has shared a new music video for the lead track off the EP, “Chapel of Pines.” The video is directed by Christopher Good and it follows Crutchfield out in nature before things become surreal.
