 Free Cake With Every Creature announces new album, shares “Around You”

Free Cake With Every Creature has announced a follow-up to 2016’s Talking Quietly Of Anything With You. The project of Katie Bennett recorded The Bluest Star at home and the LP is set to be out August 3rd via Double Double Whammy. Pre-order it here.

In anticipation for August, Bennett shared the lead single, “Around You,” with familiar sounds from her previous releases with lyrics like, “In the girls room, hip to hip/ A circle of ‘I admit I… just want to hang around you’/ Do you?” Listen to the track below. The Buttertones share “You And Your Knife” video, announce tour

The Buttertones have shared a new video for “You And Your Knife” from Midnight in a Moonless Dream. The clip, directed by Zack Bernstein, shows the band surrounded by funhouse mirrors and as well as a rooftop set. Watch the video below.

Mitski announces tour

Mitski has announced a tour backing her upcoming album Be The Cowboy. Following a number of U.S. solo shows this month, she will tour with a full-band in Europe, the UK, Canada, and the United States. Check out Mitski’s tour schedule below. A number of tickets are available to buy here.

Be The Cowboy will come out August 17th via Dead Oceans and Mitski recently shared “Geyser” from the album along with its music video.

St. Vincent shares “fast” version of “Slow Disco”

St. Vincent has released a new version of her Masseduction song “Slow Disco.” “I always felt this song could wear many different outfits and live many different lives,” she wrote in a statement. “Here she is in disco pants, sweating on a New York dance floor.” St. Vincent made the song with Jack Antonoff and co-wrote it with Joy Williams from the Civil Wars. Gorillaz announce new Album and tour, release two new songs

Gorillaz have shared two new songs, “Humility,”(which features jazz and soul legend George Benson and came with a Jack Black-featured music video) as well as “Lake Zurich.” Listen to both tracks below.

Gorillaz have also shared details about their new record The Now Now which is set to arrive June 29th via Warner Bros./Parlophone. The group have announced a tour as well, and confirmed that their Demon Dayz Festival will have a second year on October 20th in Los Angeles. Trevor Powers announces new album, shares 2 songs

Trevor Powers has made his return two years after he announced the ending of the project, Youth Lagoon. He has officially announced today that his new album, Mulberry Violence is set to be out August 17th through Baby Halo. The album will feature two new songs he has shared today. Justin Vernon teases at new song “Shittiest Day in American History”

Justin Vernon posted on Twitter to tease a new release from the PEOPLE mixtape, a project he has apparently been working on with Bryce and Aaron Dessner of the National. Vernon retweeted what seems to be a tracklist with new songs from artists such as Big Red Machine, Psymun, Marijuana Deathsquads, Poliça, and himself. Justin Vernon’s two apparent contributions on the tracklist are called “Shittiest Day in American History” and “Thoughts on People 1.” Find the tweet in question below.

Last night, Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to perform his single “Bubblin,” which also has a music video which came out last week. Watch the performance below.

Haruomi Hosono reissue series announced

Haruomi Hosono, who performed in Yellow Magic Orchestra and Happy End and is a staple in Japanese music, is getting his music reissued via Light in the Attic. Five of his albums are getting for the first time outside of Japan. The series, which contains Paraiso (1978), Philharmony (1982), and omni Sight Seeing (1989) are set to be out August 10th while Hosono House (1973) and Cochin Moon (1978) are set to be reissued on September 28th. The records include translated interviews with Hosono. Watch the trailer below and find information on the label’s website.

The series’ press release also contains quotes about Hosono’s influence from the likes of Mac DeMarco, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Miho Hatori. “Hosono has been the main reason I’ve continued making music since I was like 19,” said DeMarco.
