Watch Kurt Vile perform and chat on “CBS This Morning: Saturday”
After his appearance on “The Best Show,” Kurt Vile was the musical guest on this morning’s episode of “CBS This Morning: Saturday.” He had a conversation with Anthony Mason, where he discussed about how he started writing music on banjo, “those sweet bubblegum harmonies” on “Pretty Pimpin’,” getting recognized in public now, his friendship and working relationship with the War on Drugs’ Adam Granduciel, and going with his family on tour. He and the Violators performed three songs from b’lieve i’m goin’ down: “Pretty Pimpin,” “Dust Bunnies,” and “I’m an Outlaw.” Watch it all below.

Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, has just released a new song called “Dec 99th – Local Time” through the A Country Called Earth Soundcloud, which he recently used to share new music. You can listen to it below. “The local time is always now,” the song’s description says on Soundcloud. “Forever is a current event.” “Dec 99th – Local Time” was produced by Ferrari Sheppard. The song was recorded at DPlanet Studios in Cape Town. It’s the second collaboration between Bey and Sheppard recently, earlier this month they also shared “Dec. 99th – Tall Sleeves.” Listen to it below, too.

Local Natives announce new album Sunlit Youth and world tour
Local Natives have announced their third album, Sunlit Youth. The follow-up to Hummingbird is set to be out on September 9th thro ugh Loma Vista Recordings/Infectious Music. It will include previously shared “Past Lives” and “Villainy,” which has a new lyric video, which can be seen below, directed by Andrew Droz Palermo. Check out the Sunlit Youth album art above and tracklist, and the band’s newly announced world tour dates below.
In a press release, the band’s Ryan Hahn said of the new record:
A lot of the excitement in making this new album came from discovering how to make songs in different ways. You start thinking, “What do I want to hear?” Forget about what we’ve done and what people expect. This is a song that I would want to hear. Lyrically, “Villainy” is about realising that you have the ability to change your situation, that you can start again everyday. We applied that to how we made music this time around. We wanted all the new songs to have a different energy, to challenge ourselves to do something different each time.
