Watch Janelle Monáe’s video for new song “Make Me Feel”

Janelle Monáe has shared a new song from her upcoming album Dirty Computer called “Make Me Feel.” Watch the music video, directed by Alan Ferguson and stars Tessa Thompson below. Dirty Computer is set to be out April 27th. It will also feature the song “Django Jane.” Talking to Zane Lowe, who premiered the song on Beats 1, Monáe talked about Dirty Computer, “I actually had this title on this concept before my first album The ArchAndroid, and it scared me because a lot of the things that I knew that I needed to say were very deep, very personal, from the heart. You know, this is an extremely vulnerable album and it took me a while to make it because I’m a self editor.”

 

Sade returns with new song for A Wrinkle in Time

Sade has recorded new music for the upcoming film adaptation of the novel, A Wrinkle in Time. Director Ava DuVernay announced it today via Twitter, writing, “I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway. She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget. Proud to announce that Sade has created an original song for WRINKLE IN TIME. It’s entitled ‘Flower of the Universe.’ And it’s a dream come true.” Find that tweet below.

The film will be in theaters on March 9th.

Watch Bon Iver play an unreleased song

Bon Iver played their For Emma, Forever Ago 10th anniversary show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin last night where they performed an unreleased song called “Hayward, WI” that Justin Vernon wrote while he was working on For Emma. The group also played “Re: Stacks” and their Sarah Siskind cover, “Lovin’s For Fools.” Watch videos from the show below.

Charlyne Yi accuses Marilyn Manson of harassment, racist comments

Actor and comedian Charlyne Yi has accused Marilyn Manson of racist comments and harassment. Yi went on Twitter detailing an incident on set of the medical drama “House.” “On the last season of ‘House’ [Manson] came on set to visit because he was a huge fan of the show & he harassed just about every woman asking us if we were going to scissor, rhino & called me a China man,” she wrote, continuing with, “I genuinely hope he gets help.” The tweets have been deleted. Yi also called out comedian David Cross for racist comments he made towards her at a 2007 party.

Tanlines share new EP of children’s songs

Tanlines have shared a new EP for childrens called Presents where they play classic kids songs like “Row, Row, Row Your Boat,” “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” “If You’re Happy and You Know It,” and more. Listen to it below. “Eric and I have been stay-at-home dads for the last two years,” said Jesse Cohen of the band in a statement. “The EP started as a way for us to make something for our kids, but we quickly realized that other kids (and their parents) might enjoy it too.” He continued, ‘We worked one day every week while a babysitter watched the kids, and soon enough… Presents was born.”

Watch Kendrick and Future in new “King’s Dead” video

Jay Rock has released the music video for “King’s Dead,” his song for Black Panther with Kendrick Lamar, Future, and James Blake. It shows Kendrick, Jay, and Future partying in a corporate office with the other scenes seem to have been filmed in Los Angeles’ Bradbury Building. The Voidz share new song “Pointlessness”

The Voidz have release another single from their upcoming album Virtue. Listen to “Pointlessness” below. The album is set to be out March 30th via RCA. Their debut album Tyranny was their last release. They performed unreleased music last year, which included a song named “Wink,” at a secret L.A. show.

Courtney Barnett teases new music

Courtney Barnett has shared a video showing her trying out various musical instruments. She goes from an acoustic guitar to an upright piano while Barnett sings what seems to be pieces of new songs she has been working on with the video ending with text that says “Tell Me How You Really Feel.” Watch it below.

 

Watch Anderson .Paak talk Radiohead in new documentary trailer

A hip-hop documentary called Word Is Bond is going to premiere on Showtime on Friday, February 16th. The network shared a trailer featuring Anderson .Paak discussing his influences tody. “I consider myself someone that’s coming up out of the hip-hop culture. And when I really was trying to write music, I thought I was going to be an MC. I thought I was going to be a gangster rapper,” he says. “I was influenced by Snoop and Dre, and there was nothing bigger than that.”

.Paak continues, “I love Radiohead’s stuff. I like sad white boy music, too. That stuff is all important to me, and it all goes into my artistry, but it’s coming from a hip-hop perspective. I feel like it’s coming from a drummer’s perspective.” Watch below.

Word Is Bond is directed by Sacha Jenkins and according to a press release, “the film explores the transformative power of lyrics in the world of hip-hop.” The documentary will also feature interviews with Nas, Pusha T, J. Cole, Rapsody, Big Daddy Kane, and others. Word Is Bond will premiere at 10 p.m. Eastern on Friday, February 16th.
