Damon Albarn refuses to end performance and gets carried off stage by security

This weekend at Rockslide Music Festival in Denmark, Damon Albarn went far past breaking curfew. Africa Express, his collective, which includes Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner, Seye Adeklan, and Songhoy Blues as members, performed a set that lasted five hours until 4 a.m. If he had it his way, we would have probably kept going.

Albarn was apparently in a high spirit, and also probably had drunk a little too much, leading to the collective to cover the likes of The Clash, Randy Newmanx and the Gorillaz. He also brought out guests including his Blur bandmate Graham Coxon and Laura Mvula.
Once it got to 4 a.m., however, organizers of the festival asked Albarn to end the show. He refused and encouraged the audience to cheer to support. Eventually, he was carried off stage.

Father John Misty Explains The Origin Of His Arcade Fire Cover

Father John Misty has unleashed a great cover of Arcade Fire’s “The Suburbs” this week and in an interview with NME, he spoke the inspiration on choosing the song and revealed that the decision was for mundane and contractual reasons. His manager said he had to do a cover for CBC and that it was supposed to be a Canadian artist. After being shot down for Neil Young and Leonard Cohen, he went with Arcade Fire because he was hanging out with Win Butler before shooting.

Misty said: “That’s how these radio things go and then, on the internet, it gets spun into this like … ‘I just love doing these covers, I got so many under my belt, I just love whipping ‘em out at a moment’s notice and regaling the internet with reappropriated music.’ But I do love that song, and I really enjoy performing it.”

Leon Bridges performs beautiful rendition of “Coming Home” on Fallon

Leon Bridges has released his highly anticipated debut album, Coming Home, this week. To celebrate, the soul prodigy went on last night’s The Tonight Show, where he performed the LP’s title track gorgeously. His vintage tone and threads are a nod to his passion for retro music, however it seems as though he is more than just a person who just wants to live in a nostalgic haze, he revives the classic soul sounding music, watch the replay here.

President Obama appears on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast

Marc Maron announced last week that he would be speaking with President Barack Obama. He gave the news before his episode with Judd Apatow, another guest that speaks highly of his year that includes a once-in-lifetime phone call by Mick Jagger from The Rolling Stones.

Maron today released the hour-long episode where Maron and Obama discussed “college, fitting in, race relations, gun violence, changing the status quo, disappointing your fans, comedians, fatherhood, and overcoming fear.”

Maron talked about the interview: “It’s just gonna be me and President Barack Obama in my garage. And I know that he was at Tyler Perry’s last night, so I’m a little… I mean, I like my house, but I imagine it’s gonna be a little different. It’s cozy, it’s cozy.”
