Listen to Brian Wilson’s new song “Run James Run”

Brian Wilson will release a new compilation that follows over 30 years on his work, Playback on September 22nd. He has shared “Run James Run” today, a song he co-wrote with Joe Thomas and recorded in 2017, specifically for the collection. Listen to it below. The song is one of two unreleased tracks on Playback. “Some Sweet Day,” the other song, goes back to the ’90s and was composed with frequent collaborator Andy Paley. Tyler, the Creator originally wrote “See You Again” for Zayn

Tyler, the Creator tweeted that his Flower Boy song “See You Again” was written for Zayn. “That bitch flaked on studio time twice, so i kept the ref for myself, worked out actually,” he wrote. Find the tweet below. Tyler has made a reference in the past about the lost opportunities to collaborate. In August of 2015, he reached out through Twitter to Zayn and said, “I HAVE BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENTALS AND YOU HAVE A VOICE LETS FIGURE THIS OUT MY GUY . EPIC ALBUM CUTS THO NO RADIO SINGLES.”

Blood Orange shares new song

Blood Orange has shared a new song titled “BOWERYLDN EDIT 6 15 SEPTEMBER” and it has horn and flute arrangements by Jason Arce. Hear the Dev Hynes produced track below. Blood Orange’s most recent album was last year’s Freetown Sound. He also announced recently he was working on the follow-up.

Watch Julien Baker’s new “Appointments” video

Julien Baker has released avideo for her new track “Appointments.” Watch the video which was directed by Sophia Peer below. The track is from her upcoming album Turn Out the Lights, which is due out October 27th through Matador. In a statement about the clip, which was filmed in Michigan, Baker said she was “so proud of Memphis and wanted to show off the immense artistry” from the city. “Not only were Christina [McKinney, the choreographer,] and many of the characters in the video friends, but the crew also included many people I have known and worked with for years.”

Japanese Breakfast joins Giraffage for new song

San Francisco producer Giraffage has released a new song called “Maybes.” It has Japanese Breakfast featured on it, hear it below. “Maybes” is off of Giraffage’s debut album Too Real, which is set to arrive October 20th via Counter. See the tracklist below. Japanese Breakfast earlier this year released Soft Sounds From Another Planet.

Watch Esperanza Spalding make her new record

Esperanza Spalding began making her new album Exposure today, a process she is live streaming on Facebook for 77 hours. “I foresee that creating before a live audience will add excitement and extra inspiration energy,” Spalding said before. “Knowing someone is watching and listening to what you’re making seems to conjure up a sort of ‘can’t fail’ energy.” Spalding will be joined by guests over the next three days including Andrew Bird, Robert Glasper, and Lalah Hathaway. Discogs expanding to films, comics, books, more

Discogs, in March, officially launched the beta for their spinoff site Gearogs to the public, hoping to become “the largest database of audio equipment on the planet.” At the same time, their efforts into books, comics, films, and posters were also being developed. Those sites have been officially launched: FilmogsBookogsComicogs, and Posterogs are now open to the public, with free listing and seller fees “for a limited time during the public launch.” They are aiming to hit 9 million releases in its database by the end of September.

Solange announces surprise intimate performance piece

Solange has announced a new performance piece called “Musical Meditation.” The performance is choreographed, composed, and arranged by the singer herself and the piece aims to “encourage a moment of meditation and reflection to build internal energy through music and fellowship,” according to a statement. The performance by Solange will show this Sunday, tomorrow, at currently undisclosed locations in Woodbridge, New York. Tickets are on sale for the 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm performances and are available for purchase here. Solange’s digital piece “Seventy States” is showing now at London’s Tate Modern. Her Marfa, Texas performance art piece “Scales” is also slated for an October 8th debut.
