Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus form boygenius, announce EP and tour, share 3 songs

Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus have formed a new band named boygenius. They also have announced the boygenius EP, which is out via Matador on November 9th. Listen to the three new tracks released ahead of the EP, “Me & My Dog,” “Stay Down,” and “Bite the Hand” below with the tracklist.

Baker, Bridgers, and Dacus recorded boygenius together in Los Angeles this past June. Speaking about the group’s formation in a press release, Baker explained, “When we met, Lucy and Phoebe and I were in similar places in our lives and our musical endeavors, but also had similar attitudes toward music that engendered an immediate affinity.”

Watch Julien Baker on “CBS This Morning”

Julien Baker made her national TV debut on today’s episode of “CBS This Morning” to perform songs off her new album Turn Out the Lights. Watch her play “Appointments,” “Turn Out the Lights,” and “Televangelist” below. She also was recently on the Minnesota Public Radio program “A Prairie Home Companion” to play some songs and a rendition of the hymn “It Is Well With My Soul.”

Julien Baker has released avideo for her new track “Appointments.” Watch the video which was directed by Sophia Peer below. The track is from her upcoming album Turn Out the Lights, which is due out October 27th through Matador. In a statement about the clip, which was filmed in Michigan, Baker said she was “so proud of Memphis and wanted to show off the immense artistry” from the city. “Not only were Christina [McKinney, the choreographer,] and many of the characters in the video friends, but the crew also included many people I have known and worked with for years.”
