Steven Spielberg hopes to direct new Indiana Jones film

A new Indiana Jones film, which stars Chris Pratt, has the approval of longtime director of the franchise, Steven Spielberg. The director even said he would like to direct the film.

In 2013, Disney bought the franchise to bring back the famous character after the 2008 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The studio has been keeping their eye on Pratt to build the new series around but both the script and negotiations are still in the beginning stages.

Pratt will also star in Jurassic World, which is executively produced by Spielberg. It is set to be out on June 12th, 2015. Pratt is also set to begin filming He’s also set to begin filming The Magnificent Seven by Antoine Fuqua in April as well as lined up for the possible a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.

Watch Father John Misty perform “I Love You, Honeybear” for Q

Singer-songwriter, Father John Misty, recently released his sophomore album, I Love You, Honeybear on Subpop, and he just stopped by Studio Q at CBC to play the title track. The singer wears his sunglasses through the entire performance and self-bleeps himself for the somewhat inappropriate lyric in the song. The band gets deeply into the song, getting heavier and looser by the end of the song. Watch it below.

Brian Wilson releases “The Right Time” with Al Jardine and David Marks

Brian Wilson is set to release his 11th solo record, No Pier Pressure, on April 7th. There is a number of surprising guest features on the tracklist such as She & Him, Kacey Musgraves, and Nate Ruess. The first listen from the album has fellow Beach Boys, Al Jardine and David Marks.

“The Right Time” has the three of them using their classic harmonies with Jardine on the lead. In the lyric video, the three can be seen in the studio recording the song. The video shows a look at Wilson in his element as he works on the track. Watch the video below.

The album also has Blondie Chaplin, Capital Cities’ Sebu Simonian, and a cappella singer Peter Hollens featured on it.

Best Coast announces new album

The surf pop duo Best Coast has announced the follow-up full-length album to The Only Place. Entitled California Nights, the album is set to release on May 5th via Harvest Records. Watch the album teacher below, which features A preview of the title track.

The duo have a handful of shows planned ahead of the album release including a show tomorrow at the famous The Echo in Los Angeles. They also have planned shows at the festivals, South by Southwest, Shaky Knees, and Noise Pop.

Firefly Music Festival announce line-up

The Firefly Music Festival, which takes place between June 18 to 21 in Dover, Delaware has released its 2015 lineup. At the beginning of the least there is Kings of Leon, the Killers, and an act that is yet to be announced, with rumors pointing it towards Paul McCartney. Also on the list are Modest Mouse, Spoon, Morrissey, Cage the Elephant, Gary Clark Jr., Run the Jewels, Snoop Dogg, Foster the People, Empire of the Sun, Hozier, Bastille, Zedd, Matt & Kim, Tove Lo, the Kooks, How to Dress Well, Sylvan Esso, Betty Who, Clean Bandit, and many more. Tickets from the pre-sale have been sold out but general admission and VIP passes are still available on the festival’s website. The entire lineup can be seen above.

Passion Pit premieres new song, “Lifted Up (1985)”

Passion Pit has a forthcoming album entitled Kindred coming out on April 21st via Columbia records. Today, the new album was previewed with the release of new single, “Lifted Up (1985).”

The track was premiered during Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio One show. Listen to the track below which is played along with the cover for the album in motion.

Along with releasing this new song, the band has also confirmed the tracklisting for the album. A new single, “Where the Sky Hangs,” will be released tomorrow (February 17th) for the people who pre-ordered the album on iTunes.

Watch the Death Grips’ new performance footage

Hip-hop group, Death Grips, seem to continue to release stuff that suggests that they are not actually broken up. Even though they announced in July they announced that they are not together anymore, MC Ride, Zach Hill, and Flatlander threw the fans off with the release of a new album in January. As well as these surprises, fans are waiting for their band’s final album, jenny death.

Death Grips have now released a 19-minute video which shows the band in rehearsal, performing “Inanimate Sensation” and “Lock Your Doors” as well as what seems to be new material. This has sparked speculations of whether or not they will return to the stage.

Justin Vernon and the Staves perform new song “Make It Holy”

Justin Vernon earlier this week announced the lineup for his first Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival in his hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin this summer. The news however did not distract Vernon from other projects, especially with the English folk trip, The Staves.

Bon Iver last night joined the Staveley-Taylor sisters on stage during their show at the Hackney Empire in London. They performed “Make It Holy” together and will appear on the upcoming The Staves album, If I Was which is produced by Vernon. Watch the video here.

Little Dragon announce new North American tour dates

The synth pop outfit, Little Dragon, has announced a new batch of tour dates in North America in support of their Grammy-nominated Nabuma Rubberband. The band will start in Las Vegas in the middle of May, go through California and then around Canada and the United States through June. They will have dates at Sasquatch! and will end their North American tour at Governors Ball before going to Europe for a string of festivals.
