Leonard Cohen’s cause of death revealed

Leonard Cohen’s death was announced to the public on Friday night, and today, Cohen’s manager Robert B. Kory has released a statement revealing his cause of death, The New York Times reports. “Leonard Cohen died during his sleep following a fall in the middle of the night on Nov. 7,” Kory wrote. “The death was sudden, unexpected and peaceful.” The New Yorker reported on their radio program that Cohen had been battling cancer, and Cohen talked about his declining health in his recent interview with the magazine.

Cohen recently released his final studio LP, You Want It Darker where he addressed the end of his life. He was frank about his opinions on his unfinished work in an interview with the New Yorker, where he said, “I don’t think I’ll be able to finish those songs. Maybe, who knows? And maybe I’ll get a second wind, I don’t know… I am ready to die. I hope it’s not too uncomfortable. That’s about it for me.” He took back the quote later, telling fans, “I’ve always been into self-dramatization. I intend to live forever.”

Vic Mensa calls Trump racist, performs with Travis Barker on “Kimmel”

Last night, Vic Mensa performed his song “16 Shots” on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. Mensa was also accompanied on stage by dancers dressed as police in riot gear, who he begins struggling near the end of the song. Mensa also abruptly stopped short to monologue.

“I’m a young black man from Chicago and I’m tired of not being able to trust the police,” he said. “I don’t want to see another 17-year-old kid like Laquan McDonald murdered in the street. So when I hear a candidate talking about law and order, and stop and frisk as the answer to our problems… You don’t know our problems in Chicago, and you damn sure don’t speak for us. Tomorrow we have the biggest election of our lifetime. You gotta get out and vote against hate, because Donald Trump is a racist and if you don’t vote, racism wins.” Watch the performance below.
