Destroyer announces “My Mystery” 12″, shares video for remix

Destroyer released his latest album, Poison Season last year and during the sessions for that LP, Dan Bejar also recorded a song named “My Mystery” that did not make the final cut to the tracklist. Now, it is finally going to be released on a new 12″, set to be out May 6th via Merge. (It will also be available digitally.) The new song is backed with the remix from DJjohnedwardcollins@gmail.com, who is the New Pornographers’ John Collins and a member of Bejar’s live band. It is not Collins’ first Poison Season remix; he also released his remix of “Forces From Above.” Bejar has shared a video for the remix. Directed by Nicolas Bragg, the visual shows him exploring the streets of Mexico City. Watch it below. Additionally, Bejar has announced more tour dates for Poison Season. Find his itinerary below.

Read what Bejar said about “My Mystery” and its remix in a press release:

We recorded a song called “My Mystery” a year and a half ago. Kind of a light number, vaguely danceable. Wistful, looking back not unfondly on time spent and dull misadventures had within the dead-as-a-doornail music industry. And the feeling of where it leaves you, like a rat in the middle of the ocean, though not as harsh as that; as if rats could swim an ocean’s length.

Then one day DJ johnedwardcollins@gmail.com called me up and said, “You got any shit for me?”…
