Angel Olsen shares new song “Sans”

Angel Olsen has released “Sans,” a new song off of her upcoming rarities collection Phases. She recently performed the song live on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic.” Hear the studio version and watch her performance below. “Sans” was a song I wrote in between Burn Your Fire and My Woman, something short and simple – but about a big thing in my life: travel and what it can do to the psyche. When you’re out there and you’re working and moving so fast it’s difficult to really imagine a time when you were fully realized and known. You know, it’s hard enough to be known when you’re around! But then there are those people in your life that know you and don’t need you around all the time to be or feel close-I suppose it’s about that too.

Sunflower Bean share new song “I Was a Fool”

Sunflower Bean have released a new song called “I Was a Fool.” Listen below. It is their first single since signing onto Mom + Pop Music. “‘I Was A Fool’ is one of those songs that seemingly crept up from nowhere and into our practice space,” guitarist Nick Kivlen said in a statement. “I think this song is a good example of how we’ve grown as a band, while still staying true to the band that first played together back in high school.” The trio shared a prom-inspired video for the song which is available on Apple Music as well.

Flying Lotus shares video for new song “Post Requisite”

Flying Lotus has released a stop-motion animation video for his new song “Post Requisite.” The track was previously released on SoundCloud and was the theme music for the producer’s debut feature-length film Kuso. The new video, directed by Winston Hacking, comes with a teaser for Flying Lotus’ next album in its description. “Flying Lotus is currently finishing his next studio album on Warp,” it reads. Watch Mitski star in new short film SITTING

Mitski stars in SITTING, a new film directed and written by Emily Yoshida. Mitski plays a “sitter” for people taking an intense drug that allows them to “meet God.” The short film is also heavily soundtracked by Mitski’s Puberty 2 song “Thursday Girl.” Watch it below.

Mitski reviews Weezer’s new album

Mitski has written a review of Weezer’s most recent studio album Pacific Daydream for the Talkhouse. She looks into the band’s relationship with youth culture and compares Rivers Cuomo’s songwriting to the creative processes of David Lynch. She also calls the album “an honest representation of a middle-aged rock star.” “Weezer’s newest album has provided unexpected clues in an examination of my own writing, too, as I inevitably age and negotiate an ever-evolving self with an enduring idolatry of youth,” she wrote. Bon Iver announce For Emma, Forever Ago vinyl reissue

Bon Iver has announced a reissue of their debut album For Emma, Forever Ago for the album’s 10th anniversary. The new version will be released on CD and vinyl, will feature new artwork and an essay by collaborator Trever Hagen. Check out the cover art above. Bon Iver will celebrate the album’s anniversary as well with a one-off “smoke-free” performance at Milwaukee’s BMO Harris Bradley Center on February 17th. The album will be at their merch table and via Bon Iver’s official website exclusively.

Years & Years debut new song in Baz Luhrmann-directed short film

A new Years & Years song named “Hypnotized” is the soundtrack to a new short film by Baz Luhrmann, “The Secret Life Of Flowers.” Watch it below. The short, which was made for ERDEM x H&M, stars Harriet Walter, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, and more. “The song is about falling head over heels for somebody and it totally up-ends everything you thought you knew about yourself,”Olly Alexander from the band said in a press release. The film, set in a floral country house, is “like a metaphor for our times—it’s harsh out there in the world, but in here, the things that really matter keep growing in an eternal spring.”
