St. Vincent performed Masseduction track “Slow Disco” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last night. She gave the performance on a church set with a string section in the pews. Watch it below.
Bon Iver, as Stereogum points out, performed a new song at a concert in Richmond, Va. “It’s new and it’s not even quite done, but I just want to play it for y’all,” Justin Vernon introduced it. Bon Iver, during the set, also performed with Bruce Hornsby for a cover of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and played the Bon Iver, Bon Iver track “Beth/Rest,” according to JamBands.com. Neil Young announced earlier this year that he was getting ready to launch a massive online archive with all his music, released and unreleased, for free in high-quality audio via his XStream Music streaming service. Yesterday, to coincide with his new album The Visitor, he launched the site. The Neil Young Archives include a filing cabinet and a timeline of all his albums up through The Visitor, which also includes several unreleased items like Chrome Dreams, Homegrown, and Toast. Solange celebrated the 5-year anniversary of her True EP today with a touching statement on Instagram. “I’ll always hold it close to my heart,” she writes. “It will always remind me of a time of freedom and fear.” She also thanked her fans and collaborators, saying, “I will never take for granted how you make/made me feel.” Read the whole thing below. Dev Hynes, who worked with Solange on the EP, also shared a statement for its anniversary. “Sister Solange changed my life with this one,” he writes. “I learnt things about myself personally that are still being put into practice.” Read his post here.
Billboard also announced that Solange will receive its Impact Award at the 2017 Women in Music Awards. The award honors women who use their voices “to empower and develop new leaders of tomorrow through their on-air persona, platform, and philanthropic efforts to inspire social change across the masses.” The event is set to take place on November 30th.
The project of Meg Remy, U.S. Girls, has announced their sixth album called In a Poem Unlimited. It is set to be out February 16th via 4AD. The album features already released single “Mad as Hell,” and a new one named “Velvet 4 Sale.” Watch the music video for the latter below, and check out the tracklist for the new album as well. Robin Pecknold and Casey Wescott from Fleet Foxes were the guests on Lauren Laverne’s BBC Radio 6 Music show today. They performed “If You Need To, Keep Time on Me” from the band’s latest album Crack-Up. They also covered the song, “Do What You Gotta Do,” which was written by Jimmy Webb and performed by Nina Simone on her 1968 record ’Nuff Said! “I just love what she did to the melody,” Pecknold said. “I love her melodic phrasing.” Listen to the session here.
R&B artist, Jamila Woods headlined a BLK Wednesday show at the Metro in Chicago. During her recent set, as Consequence Of Sound points out, she performed a medley of Rage Against The Machine’s “Killing In The Name” and Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Watch footage of the mashup from her performance at the Netherlands’ Crossing Border Festival below.

Sufjan Stevens has directed a stop-motion video for the title track from his new mixtape, “The Greatest Gift”. The clip stars a cast of religious figures and joyful stock-photo people, all made from cutouts of photos and illustrations. They are placed with reassuring maxims in printed text saying things like “Give generously to all without finding fault” and “Donkeys can be very useful in an emergency.” Watch it below.
