NYC rock revival book Meet Me in the Bathroom gets documentary series
Meet Me in the Bathroom, by Lizzy Goodman, is an oral history of the rock revival that happend during the 2000s in New York City and features interviews with the Strokes, LCD Soundsystem, and more. Now, it will be adapted into a documentary mini-series. The four-part series is directed by Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern, who also made the LCD Soundsystem concert film, Shut Up and Play the Hits. The documentary will have “first hand testimony, rare archive, and an era-defining soundtrack” with several of the bands who are in the book, according to a press release. Goodman said in a statement, “It’s time to share with everyone else the full view of this weird, beautiful, dirty time capsule I’ve been inhabiting.”

Bon Iver, as Stereogum points out, performed a new song at a concert in Richmond, Va. “It’s new and it’s not even quite done, but I just want to play it for y’all,” Justin Vernon introduced it. Bon Iver, during the set, also performed with Bruce Hornsby for a cover of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and played the Bon Iver, Bon Iver track “Beth/Rest,” according to JamBands.com. Neil Young’s online archive is open
Neil Young announced earlier this year that he was getting ready to launch a massive online archive with all his music, released and unreleased, for free in high-quality audio via his XStream Music streaming service. Yesterday, to coincide with his new album The Visitor, he launched the site. The Neil Young Archives include a filing cabinet and a timeline of all his albums up through The Visitor, which also includes several unreleased items like Chrome Dreams, Homegrown, and Toast. His film projects and books are also listed. Explore here, and watch a tutorial video narrated by Young below. “Don’t forget to have a good time,” he tells users. “And try not to get lost.”

Solange pens 5-year anniversary tribute to True
Solange celebrated the 5-year anniversary of her True EP today with a touching statement on Instagram. “I’ll always hold it close to my heart,” she writes. “It will always remind me of a time of freedom and fear.” She also thanked her fans and collaborators, saying, “I will never take for granted how you make/made me feel.” Read the whole thing below. Dev Hynes, who worked with Solange on the EP, also shared a statement for its anniversary. “Sister Solange changed my life with this one,” he writes. “I learnt things about myself personally that are still being put into practice.” Read his post here.
Billboard also announced that Solange will receive its Impact Award at the 2017 Women in Music Awards. The award honors women who use their voices “to empower and develop new leaders of tomorrow through their on-air persona, platform, and philanthropic efforts to inspire social change across the masses.” The event is set to take place on November 30th.
