Listen to Swans’ new song “When Will I Return?”

Swans will release their new album The Glowing Man on June 17th via Young God/Mute. It is being called “the last album release of Swans’ current incarnation.” They have already teased the title track and shared live footage of “Cloud of Unknowing.” Now, they have released “When Will I Return?” from the album. Hear it below.

In a press release for The Glowing Man, Michael Gira explains:

I wrote the song “When Will I Return?” specifically for [my wife] Jennifer Gira to sing. It’s a tribute to her strength, courage, and resilience in the face of a deeply scarring experience she once endured, and that she continues to overcome daily.

The Strokes announce new Future Present Past EP, premiere new song “OBLIVIUS”

The Strokes have announced an EP named Future Present Past. It is set to be released on June 3rd through Julian Casablancas’ title Cult Records and the release will feature new tracks, “Drag Queen,” “OBLIVIUS,” and “Threat of Joy.”

Frontman Casablancas made the announcement this morning on his debut episode of his monthly SiriusXMU radio show, “Culture Void.” Casablancas also premiered “OBLIVIUS.” You can hear the track now at Cult Records, where all three songs are planned to be streamed later today.

In anticipation of the announcement, advertisements for the EP were seen through New York City. Casablancas’ Cult Records also have been promoting the project on their Instagram account and website.

A press release shows that Future Present Past‘s release was meant to go along with their headlining set at Governor’s Ball.  

Real Estate part ways with Matt Mondanile

Matt Mondanile is no longer a member of Real Estate. The band in a statement said he is “focusing on his own Ducktails project.” Real Estate will continue their tour currently with new member and guitarist Julian Lynch. They also say that they will start to record the follow-up to their 2014 album Atlas after the tour. It is scheduled currently for release in early 2017. See their full statement and upcoming schedule below. Ducktails also has dates soon, the schedule is below.

A founding Real Estate member and guitarist, Mondanile was part of all of the band’s releases.

Real Estate’s statement:

Having previously announced a short run of shows in California and a show at Red Rocks Amphitheater with The National, Real Estate expand on this by adding two further California dates. This limited run of dates is a prelude to the recording of their next album, tentatively slated for early 2017.
These upcoming shows will be the first with new member and fellow scion of Ridgewood, NJ, guitarist Julian Lynch. Lynch takes the place vacated by the departing Matt Mondanile, who is focusing on his own Ducktails project, a musical endeavor that predates his involvement in Real Estate.
The band will commence recording their follow-up to Atlas this summer.

Esperanza Spalding scores, stars in short film Gaze

Last year, Ray Ban’s film series had featured a short film called Color Guard, which was scored by Kamasi Washington. The latest in the series of films is called Gaze, which stars and features new songs from Esperanza Spalding. It’s directed by Allie Avital and is produced by Yours Truly. Watch it below.

Passion Pit join Classixx on new song “Safe Inside”

Electronic duo Classixx are preparing to release their second album, Faraway Reach, on June 3rd through Innovative Leisure. The album spans 12 new tracks, including collaborations with How to Dress Well, Passion Pit, Alex Frankel of Holy Ghost!, and T-Pain and others.

Last month, the How To Dress Wel-collaboration, “Just Let Go” was released. Now, Classixx returned with “Safe Inside,” a breezy song led by Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos.
