Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova announces new book Read & Rio

Nadya Tolokonnikova, from Pussy Riot, has announced a new book called Read & Riot, set to come out October 9th via HarperCollins. The listing for the book details it as a “guerilla guide to radical protest and joyful political resistance” and goes into Tolokonnikova’s arrests and interactions with the Russian government as an activist and artist. She also has shared an advance excerpt from the book, which is a first-person account about the time she’s spent in Russian jails. Read the full excerpt below.

Ryan Hemsworth announces new album, shares song with Joji

Ryan Hemsworth has announced a new album called Elsewhere, and it is set to be out September 21st through Secret Songs/eOne. In anticipation of the new album, Hemsworth shared the single “Think About U,” featuring Joji, which came with an animated video directed by techgod. Check it out below. “The track comes after Hemsworth’s latest release, the NewAgeMuzik-featuring track “Four Seasons,” which is set to be on the new album.

Mount Kimbie announce new DJ-Kicks mix

Mount Kimbie have announced they will be the next in line to do the DJ-Kicks mix series. The duo, Aka Dominic Maker and Kai Campos have created the next mix and it will arrive September 28th through !K7. The mix was inspired by Mount Kimbie’s stint of shows with producer Actress, and it includes “plenty of the tracks” that were played on the tour making it into the mix.

There is also an unreleased track, “Southgate,” which was made exclusively for the mix and was “initially influenced by Stanislav Tolkachev and Alexis Perala,” who are also included in the mix. Take a listen to that below.

Peter Bjorn and John announce new album and tour

Peter Bjorn and John have announced the follow-up to their 2016 album, Breakin’ Point, titled Darker Days. The album follows “Peter tackling what’s happening in the world right now, Bjorn delving into relationship issues and John, the most existential, exploring the shadows of our own psyche,” according to a press release

Darker Days is set to be out October 19th. In addition to the album, Peter Bjorn and John will set out on tour in October. Find the tour dates below, and find tickets here.

The Internet announce tour

The Internet have announced a tour in support of their new album Hive Mind and it starts in October and will end in December. The group will perform cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Houston, and more. See their full itinerary below. The band are also opening for Gorillaz during a number shows in October.

Dntel shares new album Hate In My Heart on Leaving Records

Dntel, aka, Jimmy Tamborello, has released his first new record in four years called Hate In My Heart. It is out now on Leaving Records.

Hate In My Heart was “performed live in [Tamborello’s] living room in 2017 with a Buchla Music Easel and some pedals, then edited.” You can preview the album below with the track “Worn” along with the full album tracklisting. You can also buy the LP on cassette at the Dntel Bandcamp page.

CAVE announces new album Allways on Drag City, shares new song

Moses Sumney announces new EP Black in Deep Red, 2014 and shares new song

Moses Sumney has announced a new EP titled Black in Deep Red, 2014. The project is set to be out on August 10th via Jagjaguwar. The title is inspired by the 1957 Mark Rothko painting. Sumney has shared the first track on the EP, “Rank & File.” Listen below.

Black in Deep Red, 2014 was ignited by the first and last time I attended a protest,” Sumney said in a statement. “It was in the fall of 2014, after a grand jury decided not to charge the offending officer in the Mike Brown murder, delivering the verdict just in time for them to get home for Thanksgiving. I felt like a camouflaged outsider at the protest, like an anthropologist performing a study amongst his own kind.”

TV on the Radio announce Dear Science anniversary show

TV on the Radio have announced an upcoming performance of the band’s fourth studio album, Dear Science in celebration of it’s 10th anniversary. They will perform the entire album on September 20th at the Knockdown Center in New York City. “For various reasons this record means a LOT to us and we’re thrilled have a chance to play it in its entirety, in New York, nonetheless,” Tunde Adebimpe said in a press release. “I’d say it’s gonna be a special night.” Find tickets here.

Dear Science is the band’s fourth studio album, and the follow-up to their major label debut Return to Cookie Mountain.

The album is credited to his Oakland hip-hop group The Coup and has appearances from the film’s star Lakeith Stanfield, Tune-Yards,who scored the film, Janelle Monáe, Killer Mike, and more.
