Solange returns to Twitter

Solange has returned to Twitter after deleting her account on the platform in August. She shared photos from the Hurricane Harvey benefit she played earlier tonight in Boston, and her Hollywood Bowl show from last weekend. Solange left Twitter after the rise of neo-nazi rhetoric after the violent incidents in Charlottesville, Virginia. She mentioned Takiyah Thompson, the 22-year-old Carolina Central University student in her final tweet, who was arrested for taking down a Confederate monument in Durham, North Carolina.

Louis C.K.’s new movie gets theatrical release date

Louis C.K.’s first movie in 16 years is coming to theaters. I Love You, Daddy will be in theaters in New York City and Los Angeles starting Friday, November 17th and will receive a wider, North American, release on Friday, December 1st. The film is his first feature length film in 16 years and stars C.K., John Malkovich, Chloë Grace Moretz, Rose Byrne, Edie Falco, Charlie Day, Pamela Adlon, Helen Hunt, and Ebonee Noel. I Love You, Daddy also premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this year.

Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett hang out with family in new video

Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett have released a new video for their song, “Continental Breakfast,” from their upcoming album Lotta Sea Lice. The clip was directed by Danny Cohen, who says it delves “into their lives and the time spent with family and friends between recording /touring.” Watch the video below. Lotta Sea Lice is due out October 13th via Matador and Marathon Artists.

Watch Neil Young get inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame

Neil Young got inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame in a ceremony at Toronto’s Massey Hall last night. “I’m terribly proud to be Canadian,” Young during his speech after being introduced by Randy Bachman. “I know I’ve travelled a lot … but I’ve always been a Canadian citizen. I’ve never been a citizen of anywhere else, even though I love the USA. By the way, my message is: They’re already great.” Bruce Cockburn, Stéphane Venne, and Beau Dommage were inducted as well, and the ceremony had performances from Buffy Sainte-Marie, k.d. lang, and Randy Bachman. Day For Night lineup has been announced

The other day, Day for Night, the art and music festival in Houston, Texas, announced its 2017 lineup. Among the headliners are Nine Inch Nails, Thom Yorke, Solange, Justice, St. Vincent, Tyler, the Creator, and James Blake. Also on the lineup are Jamie xx, Pussy Riot, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Sky Ferreira, Cardi B, Perfume Genius, Laurie Anderson, Lil B, Jlin, Priests, Mount Kimbie, and Jenny Hval. GAS will also be playing the festival, making it his first show in the United States since 2009. Day for Night 201 will take place December 15-17. See the full lineup here.

On the first day of the festival, there is going to be a summit with talks by Chelsea Manning, Laurie Anderson, Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova, and Los Angeles-based artist Lauren McCarthy. After the summit, there is going to be a “Soul Cleansing,” a performance presented by Saint Heron that will feature Solange, Earl Sweatshirt, and Kaytranada. Day for Night also will have 18 installations from artists including Ryoji Ikeda, Matthew Schreiber, and Felicie D’Estienne D’Orves.

A part of the earnings from this year’s Day for Night is going to be donated to the Greater Houston Community Foundation to help people in areas affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Last year’s festival featured the first Aphex Twin set in the States since 2008.

Bob Dylan announces new gospel years box set

Bob Dylan has announced the latest of Bootleg Series. Trouble No More – The Bootleg Series Vol. 13 / 1979-1981 will look inside Dylan’s “gospel years” and the three albums that came from it: Slow Train Coming, Saved, and Shot of Love. It will be available for purchase through a two-CD or four-LP set. It will also be available as a deluxe box, which will feature eight CDs and one DVD. The set will include 100 previously unreleased live and studio recordings, which has 14 songs never released on an official Dylan release. The box will also feature a concert film that features never-before-seen footage from his 1980 tour and sermons delivered by Michael Shannon. Trouble No More is out November 3rd through Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings and the full details can be found here.

Watch Leonard Cohen’s posthumous “Leaving the Table” video

The Polaris Music Prize Gala last night showed the premiere of a new Leonard Cohen video for “Leaving the Table.” Watch it below. An animated Cohen dances around the Montreal skyline and explores the world before going back to his hometown in the video. “Leaving the Table” is on his album, You Want It Darker, which was put on the shortlist for the Polaris Prize alongside LPs from Feist, BADBADNOTGOOD, and more. Feist, along with Lana Del Rey, Elvis Costello, and more, are among the artists set to perform at an upcoming tribute concert to Cohen on the one-year anniversary of his death.

Listen to Brian Wilson’s new song “Run James Run”

Brian Wilson will release a new compilation that follows over 30 years on his work, Playback on September 22nd. He has shared “Run James Run” today, a song he co-wrote with Joe Thomas and recorded in 2017, specifically for the collection. Listen to it below. The song is one of two unreleased tracks on Playback. “Some Sweet Day,” the other song, goes back to the ’90s and was composed with frequent collaborator Andy Paley. Tyler, the Creator originally wrote “See You Again” for Zayn

Tyler, the Creator tweeted that his Flower Boy song “See You Again” was written for Zayn. “That bitch flaked on studio time twice, so i kept the ref for myself, worked out actually,” he wrote. Find the tweet below. Tyler has made a reference in the past about the lost opportunities to collaborate. In August of 2015, he reached out through Twitter to Zayn and said, “I HAVE BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENTALS AND YOU HAVE A VOICE LETS FIGURE THIS OUT MY GUY . EPIC ALBUM CUTS THO NO RADIO SINGLES.”

Blood Orange shares new song

Blood Orange has shared a new song titled “BOWERYLDN EDIT 6 15 SEPTEMBER” and it has horn and flute arrangements by Jason Arce. Hear the Dev Hynes produced track below. Blood Orange’s most recent album was last year’s Freetown Sound. He also announced recently he was working on the follow-up.
