Watch the National bring out St. Vincent to perform a new song

The National performed a new song, “Prom Song 13th Century (Frankie & Johnny),” at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles last night. They brought out St. Vincent, who sand with Matt Berninger while looking at a lyric sheet on the floor. They joined hands for a dance and twirl at the end. “I realized I don’t know how to spin somebody,” Berninger said. Watch it happen below.

In 2009, the National and St. Vincent worked together to cover Crooked Fingers’ “Sleep All Summer.”

St. Vincent stars in new mini-documentary, returns home to Texas

Nowness has released a short documentary film that is following St. Vincent’s Annie Clark returning to her hometown of Marfa, Texas. The film is directed by Alan Del Rio Ortiz, who has been with St. Vincent on tour for years, and it sees Clark talking about her creative drive, and the fear and satisfaction in performing. She sings a jerky rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” at a local small baseball game and creates a scene from a track from St Vincent, “Rattlesnake” by walking naked in a field. There is also a dance number that is narrated by Clark as she says, “There’s nothing more interesting to me than human nature, because it’s infinitely strange and just infinitely fascinating.”

St. Vincent Serving as Bandleader on Late Night with Seth Meyers

Next week, on Monday August 11th and Tuesday August 12th, Annie Clark, St. Vincent, will be leading the house band for late night, the 8G Band. She will be the replacing Fred Armisen those two days as he films the highly-anticipated fifth season of Portlandia.

Even though the 8G band has had a variety of guest musicians joining the band, the band was only ever lead by Armisen. However, knowing how St. Vincent has been able to impress crowds, including a sometimes judgmental Saturday Night Live crowd.

Earlier this year, St. Vincent took a short performance as the front woman of Nirvana during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction.
